‘Change is the only constant in life.’

Change can be a joyful blessing. It can also be unexpected devastation. Loss of homes, memories, security, identity.

When changes uproot our lives, we need safe spaces, both physical and emotional, to find our footing.

Refuge Coffee exists to help create those spaces.

Why Refuge?

refuge/ˈrefyo͞oj/ - A refuge is a safe place, shelter, or protection from danger, trouble, or distress. It can refer to physical locations (like a storm shelter) or mental/emotional havens used to find comfort

We all have times in our lives when we need a safe harbor to weather the storm. Sometimes refuge comes in the form of a therapist, caregiver, or community program; sometimes it’s a safe place to find a meal and some rest.

Our coffee is one way to help make those services more accessible.

We partner with purveyors who uphold the highest ethical standards to ensure that every hand involved, from the farm to the cup, is paid a living wage, and we streamline our supply chain to keep costs to a minimum.

Why Coffee?

Early coffee houses were socioeconomic equalizers and catalysts for social change. From the Enlightenment to the American and French revolutions to many a modern business brainstorm, coffee has been an incubator for change for hundreds of years. While a couple of behemoth companies now dominate the industry, coffee still has the power to change lives. To treat all the people involved in its production fairly and still have a portion to donate to developing places and programs of refuge.
